Annual Sports Day 2023

Annual Sports Day was held in SOS Hermann Gmeiner College Dhaka on 16 February 2023. On the occasion of the day, the whole campus was decorated colourfully and a large temporary sitting arena was set up for the parents and the students to sit and enjoy the day. The Chief Guest was Professor Nehal Ahmed, the Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Dhaka. Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages International in Bangladesh and Chairman of the College Governing Body; and Md. Saiful Islam, Project Director, SOS Children’s Villages, Dhaka, were also present. Moreover, the invited dignitaries attended the day. The Chief Guest entered the college at 11:30 a.m. As soon as he entered, the band group of the college welcomed him drumming rhythmically. The Principal of the college took him to the Dias and then, the students of general group and also of different groups like Boys Scout and Red Crescent started with march past and saluted him. After the march past, a student recited from the Holy Quran. Then, there was a very beautiful display of the girls. Next, with the students, the Prefects, the Games teachers, the Vice Principal and the Principal of the college, the Chief Guest inaugurated the day by releasing balloons. After the inauguration, two fastest students of the 100 meters sprints roamed the playground with the lighted torch. Next, the sports competition began where there were relay race, 100 meters sprints, chocolate race, 50 meters sprint etc. There were games for the male guardians and the female guardians, also. In the meantime, students who took part in the competition of “Dress As You Like” came to the ground. After the completion of the sports, the Chief Guest delivered his important speech inspiring the students to study well, to keep themselves fit and to be patriots. Next, he handed over prizes among the winners. Finally the Principal of the college thanked everyone for their presence and support and congratulated the students for their exceptional performances. The whole programme ended at 01:30 p.m
