Academics:

SSC Result: Total 107 students from science group-81 and from Business group- 26 students) of SOS Hermann Gmeiner College Dhaka appeared in the SSC exam-2024. 102 students passed successfully. Over all passing rate was 95.33%. Among them 52 students of science group and 02 students of Business group got GPA-5.

HSC Result: Total 105 students from science group of this college attended in the HSC exam-2024. Passing rate was 100% among whom 94 students got GPA-5.

Co-curricular Awards: On 29 April 2024, 10 students of the college became winners in different categories of competitions of National Education Week-2024 at the Thana level. In Interschool Competition 2024, 01 student (boy) of class VIII,01 student (girl) of class of X and 01 student (girl) of class IX secured 2^nd, 1^st and 3^rd positions respectively in Cycling competition (Personal Event) at Thana level. The student of class X also secured 3^rd position in Cycling competition in Dhaka Mohanogor. 01 student (girl) of class VIII became runner up in Chess Tournament at Thana level (Personal Event) in Interschool Competition 2024 .

Workshop and Awareness Programme:

Cyber Safety Awareness Session: SOS Hermann Gmeiner College Dhaka organized a seminar of ‘Cyber Safety Awareness Session’ on 11 March 2024 at Helmut Kutin auditorium of the college. Approximately 400 students from class VII to X attended the session and it was conducted by an ICT expert, Engr. Md. Musfiqur Rahman, Chief Information Technology Officer, First Security Islami Bank PLC.

Awareness Programme on ‘Preventing Drug Abuse, Terrorism and Social Degradation’: An awareness programme on ‘Preventing Drug Abuse, Terrorism and Social Degradation’ was held on 04 March 2024 at Helmut Kutin auditorium of the college. Approximately 460 students from class VI – X attended the program. The session was conducted by Mr. Tanvir Ahmed, Superintendent of Police, Anti-Terrorism Unit, Police Headquarters, Dhaka. The topics of the discussion were drug abuse, terrorism and religious awareness, cyber bullying and consciousness about cyber- space, criminal offences during adolescence and social degradation and discipline.

Workshop on Raising Awareness of Road Safety and Traffic Rules in Educational Institution: ‘Workshop on Raising Awareness of Road Safety and Traffic Rules in Educational Institution’ was held at Helmut Kutin auditorium of the college on 24 June 2024. The Chief Guest of the Programme was the Executive Director (Additional Secretary) DTCA (Dhaka Transport Coordinator Authority). Approximately 475 students from class VI to X were present in the workshop.

Seminar on Mental Health Awareness: A seminar on Mental Health Awareness was held on 30 June 2024 at Helmut Kutin auditorium of the college. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Shahana Parvin MBBS, MD (Psychiatry), Associate Professor Psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health, Dhaka. Approximately 270 students of class VI, VIII, X and 24 teachers of the college were present there.

Workshop on Child and Youth Safe Guarding: A workshop on ‘Child and Youth Safe Guarding’ was held on 18 September 2014 at in Helmut Kutin auditorium of the college. Approximately 400 students from VII to X and recently appointed three teachers attended the seminar. The workshop was arranged by the CS team of the college.

Social Activities:

Supporting Flood Affected people: All staff (78) of the college contributed fund for the flood victim people to the Relief Fund of the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh. The fund was raised collecting from one-day basic salary of all the staff of the college.

Awareness Campaign on Traffic Rules and Road Safety: On 25 September 2024 guided by the Physical Education Teacher 14 students of Girls Guide of various classes of the college went to Mirpur-10 to see and learn practically about traffic rules.

Campaign on Raising Awareness of the Harmful Effects of Polythene Bags: 17 students of  class XI of the college took part in the workshop for the awareness of the harmful effects of polythene bags arranged by the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’. They visited various shopping malls to create awareness against the use of polythene bags. The workshop continued from 1 October to 5 October 2024.

Eco-School Campaign: 20 students from class VIII to X took part in UNESCO Greening School Campaign conducted by Bidahn Chandra Pal, Founder and Managing Director of Probha Aurora. The campaign was held in the college campus. 6 students of class VIII participated in Day-Long Project Presentations, Celebrating world Environment Day 2024. The project was organized by Probha Aurora.

Training:

The Principal of the college attended a three-day training programme on “New Curriculum Dissemination, Monitoring and Monitoring training 2024 for the Head/Assistant Head Teachers” from 31 March to 02 April 2024. A six-day training programme as master trainer at Upazila level on “Dissemination of New Curriculum Scheme” from 03 May to 08 May 2024 and a five-day training programme on the same topic from 10 May to 14 May 2024 were attended by 1 and 3 teachers of the college respectively.

Challenges: 

1.       To fill up the target number of the students under SAP/BPL.

2.       Facing financial crisis for giving 25% waiver to the students of SOS Children’s Village Dhaka and for giving up to 75% waiver to the students under SAP and for giving free classes to the students of “BPL coaching”.
