Observing Independence Day 2022
The 51st Independence Day of Bangladesh was observed by the students and the teachers of SOS Hermann Gmeiner College Dhaka with due solemnity. To celebrate the day all the students and the teachers of the college attended the programme in ‘Helmut Kutin’ auditorium. The programme started at 09:30 a.m. with the recitation from the Holy Quran by a student of class XI. Then two students and two teachers of the college delivered speeches about the significance of the historic day. Finally, the Principal of the college delivered an important speech. She told the students about the supreme sacrifice of the great martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of the freedom of the country. Then she emphasized on the importance of freedom and the necessity of its preservation. After finishing her speech, she declared the names of the winners of ‘Art’ and ‘Essay Writing’ competitions which were arranged on the occasions of ‘the Independence Day’ and ‘the Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day’. She, then, distributed prizes among the winners and inspired all the students who took part in the competitions. The first part of the programme ended at 10:15 a.m. following a short but mesmerizing cultural programme where there were patriotic songs, recitation of patriotic poems and group dances. The whole programme ended at 11: 00 a.m. It is mentionable that there were writings of the students of the college on “Sheikh Rasel Wall Magazine” on the occasion of the Independence Day and it was unveiled in the beginning of the programme by the Principal of the college. During the evening time the whole college campus was illuminated with red and green lights. It is also mentionable that on both the occasions of 25 March and 26 March, the college campus was decorated with posters and banners related to the respective days.
